Just over the hill from Port Tarakohe is Ligar Bay, with a beach of golden sand, sheltered by an inlet.

The entrance to the lagoon is the resting place for a handful of yachts and small boats, many of which seem to be past their “use by” date. One is in fact mastless, and apparently going nowhere soon.
